      History of Dillon - Silverthorne

Named after Tom Dillon and officially incorporated in 1883, this little Rocky Mountain town was originally settled as a stage stop and trading post on the northeast side of the Snake River.

Due to railways, water systems for Denver, and the building of the Dillon Dam, however, the town has moved its location four times before sitting where it does today.

To this day, at the bottom of Dillon Lake sits an old ghost town from before the town was moved to its final location.
