The therapeutic effects of honey have long been known and documented, as has the close relationship between bees and humans. When Nick French, the owner of Frangiosa Farms and Colorado Hemp Honey, invited us to take part in a harvest of their award-winning raw Rocky Mountain honey, we jumped at the chance to see the Marine Corp veteran and his team in action.
Nick’s experience working with bees stems back to 2008 when he began maintaining his first hive and crystalizing his knowledge and awareness of the benefits of raw honey to humans. Raw honey contains over 200 naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, amino acids, and enzymes. When Nick’s awareness and knowledge of the positive attributes also associated with CBD grew, he began experimenting by mixing his raw honey with CBD to create an even more powerful blend of homeopathic goodness. His wife's background in aromatherapy eventually led them to introduce essential oils into the process. At that point, they knew they had created something special. Thus, ‘Colorado Hemp Honey’ was founded in 2015 and has been thriving ever since.
Nick and Ali founded Frangiosa Hemp & Honey Farm on 8.5 acres in the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Frangiosa Farm grows non-GMO organic hemp and maintains six strategically placed apiaries throughout the front range. Their mission is creating and teaching natural, sustainable beekeeping methods in the face of worldwide bee decline, while placing the highest value of integrity and purity on each of their small batch artisanal products. Frangiosa Farm’s bee shepherds take the greatest of care and attention in maintaining their hives using only sustainable and organic practices. These same practices are also applied in cultivating their own proprietary strain of industrial hemp for use exclusively in their ‘Colorado Hemp Honey’ brand of honeys, carried at all Native Roots Wellness stores. Frangiosa Farm’s mission to spread good doesn't stop there. The farm donates a portion of the sales from Colorado Hemp Honey products to help support the ‘Veterans to Farmers’ (VTF) non-profit, which helps veterans return to civilian life through training in agriculture.
The Hemp Honey Making Process;
First, the bee shepherds collect raw honey in its natural state.
The second step is to extract the full-spectrum hemp extract. To do this, the farm uses a renewable extraction method to ensure that the customer is receiving the full-spectrum of benefits found in the hemp plant. The hemp extract that is created is then triple-tested for purity and potency.
Next the full-spectrum hemp extract is combined with the RAW honey.
The fourth and final step in this process comes from the on-staff aromatherapist who infuses a unique mixtures of organic essential oils to the raw hemp-honey. The oils layer in aromas and flavors of tangerine, lemon, and soothing ginger that add additional therapeutic benefits. A thoughtful and delicious way to enjoy the naturally occurring bounties found in mother nature.
