1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 3 large navel oranges)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 (12 oz) bag of fresh cranberries
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
A pinch of salt
3 tablespoons infused butter (optional, 10 mg per half tablespoon)
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the freshly squeezed orange juice and sugar to a boil.
Add the cranberries, freshly grated orange zest, cinnamon stick, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan. Return to a boil and then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer gently for approximately 10 minutes, or until most of the cranberries have burst open, and the sauce has thickened.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. If desired, add the optional infused butter and stir until it's evenly melted into the sauce.
Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving bowl. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve.
