Additional Info

Named for its waterside geography, Edgewater sits on the west side of Sloan’s Lake and south of Wheat Ridge. Edgewater is not a neighborhood of Denver but a tiny town (approximately 1 square mile) offering residents a mix of affordable housing and diversity while still being close to the big city.

This mostly residential area has an abundance of local eateries and modern shops. It features many local community sports like yoga studios, parks, and a skate park, but its primary highlight is direct access to Denver’s largest lake and second-largest park.

Learn more about Edgewater below and make sure to come by our Native Roots Marijuana Dispensary anytime to check out our freshest strains and premium cannabis products and accessories.

Sloan’s Lake is the only lake in Denver that allows motorized boating, but no jet skis or other motorized personal watercraft are permitted on Sloan’s Lake.

Totaling 290 acres of combined water and green space, Sloan’s Lake Park offers visitors hiking paths, bike trails, boating, fishing, sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, as well as multiple playgrounds.

Getting to Sloan's Lake Park from Native Roots is easy. From our nearby dispensary, head west for three blocks on W 20th Avenue until you reach the park.

Edgewater hosts several fun public community events and festivals for the whole family to enjoy. Held in the warmer months of July and August, residents and visitors can enjoy free events like the “Movie in the Park” nights at Citizens Park.

Held every year in August, the annual Scottish Festival celebrates all things Scottish. Attendees will experience Scottish athletics and performances, historical reenactments, and traditional Scottish foods.

In September, the Edgewater Hometown Festival celebrates local families and businesses with entertaining events, family-friendly activities, live music, artisans, a kid’s area, and even a pie-eating contest.

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival

Each July more than 150,000 people attend the annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, the largest dragon boat festival in the USA.

Held on Sloan’s Lake and organized by the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, the festival draws up to 50 teams from around the state to compete to be Colorado Dragon Boat Racing champions.
